Less can be more: How to turn one story into 8 pieces of content
Can one well-crafted story become the source of 8 different pieces of content? The truth is, it can – and it should. Repurposing is smart, efficient, and effective. Here’s how to do it.
1. Press Release
A compelling press release sets the foundation. Include quotes, key facts, and a strong narrative hook. Depending on the campaign this should be tailored for different media channels e.g. retail trade, business, consumer and/or foodservice media.
2. Blog Post
Turn the press release into a more conversational blog post. Add context, background, or a personal touch. This is where your brand voice can really shine.
3. Social Media Posts (3-4 pieces)
Break the story into bite-sized updates. Highlight a stat, quote the spokesperson, or pull out a striking visual. Create different formats: a LinkedIn post, an Instagram carousel or Facebook update. The channel depends on your brand and campaign priorities.
4. Infographic
If your story includes data or a timeline, visualise it. Infographics are highly shareable whilst helping your audience grasp complex info quickly.
5. Email Newsletter Blurb
Add a short summary to your next email campaign. Drive traffic back to the full story on your site.
6. Video Snippet
Create a 30 second video summarising the story or featuring a key quote. Even better if you have the spokesperson or brand ambassador on camera. The style of the video depends on your brand and campaign audience.
7. LinkedIn Article
Different from a short post, a long-form article on LinkedIn gives you more space to provide thought leadership and target a professional audience.
8. Case Study or Whitepaper
For stories with substantial results or lessons learned, create a deeper dive. Perfect for B2B audiences looking for value and credibility.
When we launched Meatless Farm’s M*** F*** campaign, we used a single creative concept to generate a wide range of content. Our strategy was grounded in audience insights, allowing us to tailor the messaging for different platforms and media channels. What began as a bold brand statement evolved into a press release, reactive media commentary, social content (including short-form video and Instagram carousels), thought leadership articles, and even a live activation. By repurposing the core narrative across formats, we kept the campaign cohesive while extending its reach and impact.
Final Tip:
Always ask: What’s the next format this story could live in? With a little creativity, one story can fuel your content calendar for weeks.
