Nexus makes senior hires in digital and crisis arenas

Food, drink and healthcare specialists Nexus Communications has made two new hires to its senior management team to reflect growing income in core areas of the business.

Keith Beech joins to head up the crisis and issues division, arriving from Lewis PR and with a ten year stint as a BBC journalist, producer, and Multi Media Managing Director to call upon. Keith’s role will be to build upon the high profile and front page issues that Nexus is increasingly involved in advising upon from horsegate, to the ongoing food and health industry challenges that dominate the everyday for clients.

Nexus has recently launched its CORE proposition (Crisis Organisation and Reputation) and proprietary online issues hub designed to remove the process pain of crisis management and allow greater focus on outputs and outcomes, and Beech will be bringing his long term journalism skills to bear on its continued growth path.

“Hope is not a strategy for crisis handling “ says Keith “and running round trying to make sense of where the crisis team are, what materials are in play, or second guessing what the current conversation map is showing is not a reassuring model to be part of when issues hit. Heading up the CORE offer excites me because we can help cut through all that and focus on what’s important for the client under pressure, namely their personal and brand reputation.”

Sophie Griffiths joins as the agency’s head of digital, from Cheil Worldwide and a primary responsibility there for Samsung’s social and digital strategy. Sophie will continue the Nexus mission to integrate social naturally alongside PR thinking and avoid the silo trap of stand alone strategies missing the all important glue

“Smart content can take many forms, but if it doesn’t come from listening to the audience first and gathering the right ‘live’ business intelligence, it can easily be out of date quickly. Apart from delivering client campaigns, my role at Nexus is to help clients see the benefit of social sitting within PR so that the real time nature of the channel is curated by the only comms people in the mix who genuinely understand how real time works.”

Sophie and Keith add valuable experience to the team and tick all the boxes in terms of looking at things from a range of angles and backgrounds, loving the spirit of a debate, and giving good consultancy whether it is what the clients want to hear or not. As an agency we are valued for our opinions and both will add fresh senior value to that long term reputation.
